Last night, I watched “ReMastered: The Two Killings of Sam Cooke” on Netflix. It was pretty good. I’m not sure how I became a fan of Cooke’s music but I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary. They give a glimpse into his life and the speculation that continues to cloud his death. I’m glad I was able to get a true sense of Sam’s impact during the 1960s and how much his fans loved him. It’s definitely worth watching. I also recommend watching Killer Mike’s “Trigger Warning” if you haven’t already. It’s on Netflix too.
March Madness -the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament- has been #MarchSadness for me so far. I didn’t have any type of feel for who to pick. I made a lot of conservative picks. The most I can ever remember making. My Final Four and National Champion picks are still in the mix but it wouldn’t surprise me if a couple of them are gone by the end of Elite 8 on Sunday. 3 – 12 seeds beating 5 seeds is the most juice this tournament has provided. Auburn -the only 5 seed to survive- almost joined the others but New Mexico State University didn’t want to be great. Saturday LSU and Maryland ended on a nice scoop layup by Tremont Waters and on Sunday UCF took Duke to the buzzer. A new champion will be crowned thanks to Purdue’s blowout win over Villanova. On the Women’s side, things have gone as many expected. Maybe we’ll see a few upsets in that Tournament too.
Last but not least, if you live in the Jackson Metro Area and have never been to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade then you’re missing out. This was my third time attending and once again it was GREAT! It was also DEEP this year. There were so many people out enjoying the festivities. It was cool to see the City of Jackson have a day where the downtown area flourished. I look forward to attending next year and hope you get a chance to enjoy.
